The February 2025 Visa Bulletin is out, and honestly, there's not much movement—just some small advances in a few employment-based categories for India and China. Here's a quick rundown of what's changed and what it means.

Employment-Based Categories

EB-2 and EB-3 Updates

  • EB-2 India moves forward by two weeks to October 15, 2012.
  • EB-3 India also advances by two weeks to December 15, 2012.
  • EB-3 China jumps ahead by a month to July 1, 2020.

Other Employment-Based Categories

  • EB-1, EB-2 ROW (Rest of World), and EB-3 ROW stay the same.
  • EB-2 China holds at April 22, 2020.

Family-Based Categories

No changes here—everything remains frozen.

What USCIS Is Using

  • Family-sponsored cases: The Dates for Filing chart.
  • Employment-based cases: The Final Action Dates chart.

What This Means

  1. Not Much Movement - The State Department is being cautious with visa allocations, which is why we're seeing only minor changes.
  2. Demand Is Still High - There's a massive backlog of pending I-485 applications, especially for EB-2 and EB-3 India. This means available visas for FY 2024 (and possibly beyond) could get used up quickly.
  3. Expect Slow Progress - Given the demand and visa restrictions, don't expect major leaps forward for EB-2/EB-3 India anytime soon.
  4. I-485 Filings Will Be Limited - Since visa numbers are tight, USCIS will likely restrict new I-485 applications.
  5. Some Retrogression - A few categories have actually moved backward, further limiting eligibility for I-485 filings.

The Bottom Line

If you're waiting in line, patience is key. The February 2025 Visa Bulletin confirms what we've been seeing—slow movement, high demand, and no quick fixes. If you're planning to file, keep an eye on these dates and stay prepared for potential delays.
